Bailey’s Bike Ride

Bailey was born 2 months premature and was on the Special Care Baby Unit at Wansbeck Hospital. His parents, Shaun and Julie contacted Party Lantern regarding a donation of Sky Lanterns for Bailey’s charity bike ride so they could do a release of lanterns at the end of the event.

We received an email from Julie after the event on Sunday 30th August telling us about the event:

“Sunday saw an amazing day, 223 cyclists took part and over 1000 came to the fun day afterwards, so far from the fun day the total stands at £3,388.11 and this is without the sponsor money of each cyclist so its a brilliant opening total…”

If you would like to donate to the Special Care Baby Unit which helps premature babies and parents you can visit to Bailey’s mothers charity page: http://www.justgiving.com/Julesbigmommabutler/

Edit: From reading a Local Northumberland Newspaper online it looks like they have raised around £8000 – 15/09/09.

Eco Sky Lanterns

Our new Eco Lantern offers a new dawn for the Sky Lantern
market.
There has been extensive coverage in the national press
about the issue of the metal wire that resides in all popular
lantern designs.
In conjunction with our manufacturing partners, we have
developed a new ground breaking Sky Lantern that uses no
metal parts. This new lantern has been patented by ourselves
and we believe, is the future of Sky Lantern design.
We have developed a new fuel cell to simplify lighting and
reduce the time from lighting to flight. This design element
combined with the flame retardant paper makes our Eco
Lanterns the safest Sky Lanterns available on the market
today.
New retail packaging has been produced with lifestyle
photography to truly demonstrate the beauty of the lanterns
and to stand out in a retail environment. Each pack is
individually barcoded.
The new lantern design is very compact further reducing
packaging weight and size.

Party Lantern is proud to announce the arrival of a brilliant new concept in the Sky Lantern range – the Eco-Lantern.

Recently there has been extensive coverage in national newspapers regarding the environmental impact of Sky Lanterns and the damage that they could cause to farm animals and wildlife due to the issue of metal wire that resides in all popular sky lantern designs.

A ground breaking new Sky Lantern that is 100% biodegradable and free from any metal parts or wires, instead it uses a flame retardant wool which is harmless to animals if ingested.

The Eco-Lantern still has all the charm of a standard Sky Lantern but this is definitely the future of Sky Lanterns.

The Eco-Lantern also come with a pre-attached fuel cell to simplify lighting and reduce the time from lighting to flight. The new design elements of the Eco-Lantern combined with the flame retardant paper makes the Eco-Lanterns the safest Sky Lanterns available and perfect for Weddings and Special Occasions.

Charity Bike Ride

Bailey’s Charity Bike Ride

If you would like to see our sky lanterns in action then why not take part in Bailey’s 10 mile charity bike ride on Sunday 30th August 2009 at 1pm in Northumberland.

Yet another year has past and Shaun and Julie Butler are once again raising money for the Special Care Baby Unit at Wansbeck Hospital.

Bailey Butler was born 2 months premature in 2007, he spent just under a month on the Special Care Baby Unit, it was a difficult and very traumatic time for both Julie and Shaun but the staff at the Special Care Baby Unit took care of Bailey and his parents.

In 2007 to celebrate Bailey’s first birthday and to say ‘thank you’ to all the doctors and nurses at the Wansbeck Hospital they organised a charity bike ride and raised over £7,500, over 120 cyclists from the UK took part in the charity event and enjoyed a fun day for all the family.

This year they are organising the event again and due to the success of last year’s event and want to make it bigger and better, it will start at the South Beach Pub in Blyth, heading along the coastal footpath up to St Mary’s Lighthouse and back to the South Beach Pub where there will be a family fun day consisting of raffles, auctions and stalls for everyone to enjoy.

At the end of the event there will be a Sky Lantern release donated by Party Lantern to end the event and to mark the lives of the small children who didn’t make it into this world and those that only got as far as the Special Care Baby Unit.

This is a fantastic cause and we hope that some of you will be able to make it along to this event and take part in the charity bike ride.

For all you Newcastle United fans, defender Steven Taylor is supporting Julie’s fundraising efforts by donating a signed strip to be raffled.
All proceeds from sponsorship, auctions, raffles and sales go directly to Special Care Baby Unit.
